10 Questions from Leah Little Travel & Fashion – Liebster Award 2018
1. If you could travel to any place on earth, at any time in history, to where and when would you travel?
If I could travel to any place on earth during any time in history it would be Ellis Island in the 1920’s era. Both my grandparents came from Ukraine and I’ve heard all of their stories and I would love to see it with my own eyes. The 1920’s era is so unique with prohibition, bootleg parties, the fashion, and the immigrants that changed NYC and the USA forever! I’d love to see how different cultures settled in to different areas of New York. Some of the most famous restaurants started during this time period and it would amazing to see their beginnings.
2. What is your favorite part of blogging?
My favorite part about blogging is reliving some of the best memories and being able to share it with others so that they can make their own experiences. Faris and I have been extremely blessed with good jobs and the ability to travel at the same time! Balancing a full time job and travel is not easy so I love being able to share my secrets. I think a lot of people believe that they can’t do both; it excites me to show people that you truly can!

3. What is your least favorite part of blogging?
I absolutely love blogging and I wish I could do it more. There is an expectation of weekly consistency. I can get overwhelmed if I am having a busier week at work or just life in general. I definitely feel that pressure but I love blogging so I do my best to not let it get me down. Blogging is a passion of mine so I don’t want that pressure to interfere with the satisfaction of the job.
4. If you could invite 3 people to dinner (alive or dead), who would you invite? Why?
I would like to have dinner with my great grandma. She was actually a flapper in the 1920’s and I’ve heard she was extremely wild and a huge rebel. I’d love to just have conversation with her to hear her opinion on what was happening during that time period and learn more about my ancestors.
The real Harry Potter because both Faris and I huge Potter fans. Favorite movies by far and I’d love to play some quidditch.
This may be cheating but the entire Beatles Band because they are known as the most influential music band in history. They changed music forever and I’d love to hear their story coming from them.
5. What is your favorite mode of transportation? Why?
I absolutely love a good road trip especially through rural, natural areas. I love a road trip for so many reasons: you can go and stop as you please and you can chose to go fast or take the long way!
Traveling days can always be tough and super long; I don’t even consider road-tripping a “travel day” because you just get to sight see the whole time! Some of my favorites include driving around the whole country of Iceland, driving throughout Jordan, and exploring the coffee region of Colombia!

6. If you could describe your blog in just one word, what word would you use? Why?
Eye-Opening
I believe there is a true misconception about travel. I believe people think it will cost them thousands of dollars and they don’t have enough time to travel. We all know that jobs are an essential part of our lives and they take up a good portion of our time. Both Faris and I have corporate marketing positions with limited amount of vacation days but we still manage to travel all over the world.
Our blog is all about managing your finances, vacation time, and the demanding every day 9-5 work. We also document all of our own travels and put them into itineraries along with packing guides, best eats, and more! The itineraries are for people who have a limited amount of vacation time – they range from a weekend getaway to 10 days. We share all of our secrets with you so that you can get your travel on too!

7. Share a favorite travel story
This is truly so hard to pick because we have so many. I will have to pick one of my first travels for a couple different reasons. This memory has lead me to all my travels today, so it means a lot to me.
Before I start the story I need to give you a little pretense. Faris and I went to the same small business school and played college sports. The athletes typically hung out together so we had the same friend group. There was some minor flirting but we just considered ourselves good friends.
How WorldTravelDuo was Created
Graduation came and my travel experience was minimal so I decided to book a 35 Day Euro trip with a girlfriend which left a couple weeks post graduation. Faris also booked his own 2 week Euro trip with his guy friends which left the day after graduation.
Faris and I exchanged itineraries and realized he’d be in Turkey while I was in Greece; if you look at a map you’d see they aren’t too far from each other. My friend and I were out to dinner in Athens and on our walk back to the hotel there’s Faris and his friend walking off the metro station. Faris was at the last leg of his trip and had to miss his flight home and rebook a new flight on a recent college grad budget which meant multiple long layovers.
They stayed with us for 5 days and came to the Grecian island of Paros. This place was absolutely stunning. We rented a car, swam in the crystal clear water, drank cheap wine and ate salami on the beach, and chased beautiful sunsets. These events truly changed how I saw travel and made me crave for more. After the euro trips Faris and I started dating and we both got corporate business positions, but we knew there was so much more out there than just working at a desk. We created our blog WorldTravelDuo and now we balance our full time positions and have traveled to over 20 countries together!
8. What is the best food you have eaten while traveling?
This one is easy for me! They say the best food in the world is from the Mediterranean region and I could not agree more. The best falafel I’ve had in my life is from Hashem in Amman Jordan. It’s from this little outdoor restaurant tucked away in this tiny alley way. All I can say is WOW, I’ve never had anything that’s come close to it.The best dinner I’ve had in my entire life is from a restaurant in Jerash, Jordan called the Lebanese house. Ironically, it’s not a Jordanian restaurant but the owners are from Lebanon and just insanely good food. Definitely inspired me to go to Lebanon!
Honestly I could add so many meals to this list. Faris and I are huge foodies and the food is a big part of our travels. We even look up the best restaurants before we go on our trips and put them in our itineraries. We definitely pride ourselves in the food section of our blog.
9. Where is your favorite place you have traveled? Why?
I have a couple that tie for first place but for different reasons. I wrote about Paros, Greece in the Favorite Travel Story portion. Greece holds a special place in my heart and it’s where my passion for travel started.
My first big road trip was around the entire country of Iceland in just 7 days! I love Iceland because of all the different landscapes. It’s just absolutely beautiful and plus they have some really good fish and chips.
I would say my number one trip was to Jordan and Egypt because it was so drastically different than anything I’ve ever seen. The culture, landscapes, and history is just out of this world. It was definitely not the easiest travel and pushed me out of my comfort zone, but it was the most rewarding by far. I can’t really describe the feeling of seeing the pyramids it’s mind blowing. Add on my favorite food and this place is number one!
10. If you could blog about a topic that you don’t already blog about, what would it be?
Both Faris and I are college athlete alumnus and we take health and fitness pretty seriously. I would love to blog about my workouts and healthy recipes! I do think I will get there eventually but for now I will be focusing on the 9-5 with travel!
