Best Time to Travel
We always believe the best time to travel anywhere is during shoulder season / low tourist season. This means good weather, cheaper prices, and less tourists! We did a Balkans tour in September 2018, which included this 24 Hours in Lake Bled Itinerary, and we found it to be the perfect time.

3 Nights Croatia – Dubrovnik, Hvar
Transportation
Rent a car: Sixt Car Rental
Lake Bled is a small compact town so a car is not necessary. You can walk everywhere once you arrive.
I do recommend exploring more than just Lake Bled, Slovenia has some of the most beautiful nature I’ve ever seen. We road-tripped all around Slovenia and Lake Bled was just one of our stops. I linked the blog below:
4 Day Slovenia Road Trip – 3 Cities
Slovenia is not the biggest country but it is very spread out. The best way to get around is to rent a car and make it a road trip! We flew into the Ljubljana Airport and rented a car right at the airport from Sixt Car Rental. I linked their website above if you wanted to rent your own car!
- Ljubljana Airport to Lake Bled – 30 minutes
Accommodations
Stay at the same accommodations: Apartment Muznik
We stayed at Apartment Muznik during our 24 Hours In Lake Bled. which is located in the heart of the town. We had 3 friends with us so Apartment Muznik was the perfect option because they had an apartment for 5. They have many apartments for all different sized groups.
The charming complex was beautiful and situated right on a river. It was very clean and perfect for what we needed. I definitely recommend staying here! I linked them above if you’d like to stay at the same accommodations.
Best Places to Eat & Drink
Lake Bled is a charming little town with some cute restaurants and bars. I listed our favorites below so make sure to check them out during your 24 hours in Lake Bled.
Wine Bar & Restaurant Sova
Website: Sova
Address: Cesta svobode 37, 4260 Bled, Slovenia
Sova is a very popular restaurant in Bled as it sits right down town facing Lake Bled. Make sure to make reservations here because this place fills up daily. It’s definitely a treat as it is more expensive but definitely worth it! I got a pasta dish and the mushroom soup and it was superb!
Mercator Mlino Bled
Website: Mercator Mlino
Address: Mlinska cesta 2, 4260 Bled, Slovenia
Mercator Mlino is the grocery store downtown Bled. Many of the restaurants downtown are quite pricey because it is such a touristy town.
If you are looking for some cheaper options grab some salami, cheese, and wine at the grocery store! They even have fresh rolls, deli meats, or fresh salmon if you are looking to make a sandwich.
You will see many people having a picnic sitting on the lawns enjoying the view of the lake! Mercator Mlino also has some of the cheapest wine, so stock up! I recommend doing this for sunset during your 24 hours in Lake Bled.
Slascicarna Zima
Website: Slascicarna Zima
Address: 3, Grajska cesta, 4260 Bled, Slovenia
Slascicarna Zima is a famous bakery in Lake Bled. They are most known for their Kremna Rezina, which is a custard cream cake made specialty in the areas of Slovenia and Austria. Definitely grab a piece while you enjoy a walk around Lake Bled!
Pub Bled Janez Troha, s.p.
Facebook Page: Pub Bled Janez
Address: Cesta svobode 19a, 4260 Bled, Slovenia
Pub Bled Janez is a chill pub to grab some beers at after dinner. It sits above a restaurant with some cool views overlooking the city. Grab some friends and enjoy the peaceful nights!
Things to Do
Lake Bled is a very cute town. It definitely has remnants of an Austrian city with its own unique flavor. Lake Bled has a lot of things to do whether that’s relaxing and enjoying the views of being more active! Some of our favorites include:
- Rent a row boat on lake bled and take it to the Church of the Assumption
- Hike to the viewpoint overlooking lake bled for sunrise
- Take a stroll around the Lake Bled Pathway
- Go for a swim in the lake
- Straza toboggan ride
- Take a walk down town
- Have a picnic on the grass surrounding the lake
- Grab some wine and enjoy a drink on the lawn surrounding the lake for sunset
- Grab dinner at Sova & some drinks at Pub Bled Janez
